Fisker Karma’s interior relies on low-carbon leather

Talk about taking great lengths to go green – Fisker Karma’s interior wants to wrap you in luxury, and yet it intends to maintain a balanced outlook by using low-carbon leather. Bridge of Weir leather was their main pick, where it is known for its luxurious feel as well as low environment impact during processing. Already out in the market for three months, and the Fisker Karma has picked up its fair share of bouquets, touting it to be “green” and luxurious. You will get some change (just a little) from the $100,000 you coughed up for this plug-in hybrid, but at least you know it has already picked up the “Luxury Car of the Year” gong by BBC Top Gear magazine to ferry around you in style – while having a heart for the environment, to boot. iPad 3 replacement parts spotted?

Apple’s products generate a whole lot of attention, and in the process, rumors as well. What you see above could very well be iPad 3 replacement parts, which you can check out in greater detail after the jump via the embedded video. TVC-Mall.com is the party who attempted to look up parts that were being sold purely for iPad 3 use, including the dock connector part, additional segments for a noise-canceling microphone cable, as well as the volume control buttons cable/power part. All of these are very preliminary, of course, so you might want to wait further until something more concrete leaks out from Apple themselves. Perhaps a ninja in Cupertino is able to help us out here? (more…)

Android Medfield tablet caught in the wild

Intel Medfield tabletWe all know that Intel plans to enter the smartphone and tablet market sometime in 2012 with the release of its new Atom chip codenamed Medfield. We’ve all seen the render of the Medfield phone before, so if you’ve ever wondered how Intel’s Medfield-powered tablets would look like, you’re in luck. The folks over at Android Community managed to get their hands on a Medfield developer tablet that was shown off during the Intel Developer Forum conference in the past and snapped some pictures of it.

The tablet has a 10.1″ display, and has a Medfield dual-core processor that is running at 1.6GHz, with graphics processing capabilities touted to beat the Tegra 2 and Qualcomm’s S3 1.5GHz dual-core processors. Since it is a developer tablet, it probably isn’t going to be what consumers will be getting their hands on in the future. Besides the tacky design on the back, it looks just like any other regular tablet but I guess it’s what on the inside that counts.

Motorola DROID 4 render shows up on Best Buy website

DROID 4In the past we’ve had unreleased phones being used as promotional material due to the carelessness of designers or folks not receiving the memo that a phone was delayed, and well it looks like it’s happened again – this time with the Motorola DROID 4. Earlier today, on Best Buy, there was a render of the upcoming Android phone being shown on its Reward Zone (the picture has now been replaced) for its “5000 Bonus Points” image. Normally this doesn’t mean a thing, but since the phone has yet to be officially announced, we believe that it might have been slated for a release this month but was given a last minute delay. Let’s hope the wait for the Motorola DROID 4 won’t be much longer.

Verizon to start charging “convenience fees”?

Verizon convenience feeAfter the nationwide outage yesterday, it looks like Verizon is going to give its customers another reason to be mad at it: the folks over at Droid-Life have gotten their hands on snapshots showing off certain internal Verizon documents stating that it will be implementing a new “convenience fee” in the near future. According to the documents, Verizon would be charging customers and additional $2 if they pay their bills over the phone or online. If true, this would enter in effect on January 15 2012.

As to why the carrier is pulling such a move, the official reason is unclear, but fortunately there is an inconvenient way to get around this convenience fee: you can either head down to the closest Verizon store to pay your bills by hand, or you can set up auto-pay by electronic checks (ACH) for your account if you’d like to avoid this $2 fee. And while it doesn’t seem like a lot of money, nobody wants to incur any unnecessary fees in their monthly expenses, especially that wireless bills are already full of additional “fees and taxes”.

Nokia Ace LTE arriving on AT&T next March?

Nokia Lumia 900?Earlier today we wrote about the HTC Radiant and Samsung Mandel, and now it looks like we’ve got more information about the devices. Paul Thurrott from Winsupersite posted some additional details about the upcoming LTE phones. According to his sources, the phones will be arriving on AT&T before the middle of 2012 and will be revealed at CES 2012. And to add one more device to the mix, he claims that the Nokia Ace LTE phone is also arriving on AT&T on March 18th. That’s the first time we’ve had a specific release date for the phone. The Nokia Lumia 710 is also said to be arriving on Verizon in April, but not as a 4G LTE device. It sure seems like AT&T has dibs on LTE Windows Phone devices. Stay tuned for more information.
