Huawei Folded Leaf concept

Huawei isn’t exactly noted for their range of smartphones, while they’re functional, they aren’t exactly groundbreaking in any way. It is then a pleasant surprise to know that Huawei’s latest concept, the Folded Leaf, has proven to be quite an eye-opener – being the company’s first concept phone at the 2011 Salone del Mobile Furniture Fair in Milan. This points toward Huawei taking the step in increasing focus on the end-user experience, which is a concept phone that intends to make the user experience simpler without compromising on design and technological capabilities. This isn’t all of Huawei’s doing though, as it was created in partnership with Claesson Koivisto Rune (CKR), a Stockholm-based architecture and design studio. It does seem as though this conceptual handset is never going to see the light of day though, since current engineering feats aren’t enough to overcome the limitations faced to turn the idea into flesh.

Eye-Fi Mobile X2 launched, brings another wireless memory card option to the market

Eye-Fi has just rolled out their latest Eye-Fi Mobile X2 memory card that offers built-in wireless connectivity just like its predecessors, albeit with 8GB of storage space this time around. Capable of letting you experience instant uploads just about anywhere you are as long as it connects wirelessly from the camera to a mobile device. With Direct Mode as well as iOS and Android apps coming in the form of free upgrades, it is going to get even easier to introduce wireless connectivity to existing cameras in the market, all through an investment of just $79.99. Direct Mode will offer benefits that are beyond that of device-to-device transfers, since you can edit your memories thanks to the myriad of apps on your mobile devices, followed by making a back up on your home computer or even saving them in a private Eye-Fi account. Having said that, the Eye-Fi Pro X2 will experience a price cut to $99.99 from $149.99 starting this April onwards. [Press Release]

Microsoft Windows 7 patch confirmed to arrive today

Microsoft WindowsLast week we reported that there will be a massive Windows 7 patch arriving today, and according to reports online, it will be arriving on time. Starting 1pm ET today, Microsoft will be releasing 17 security bulletins that will fix 64 different vulnerabilities in Windows, Internet Explorer, Office and Visual Studio. It has been reported by a security expert who wished to remain anonymous, that at least half of the 64 bug fixes are kernel related. This means that the update will be essential to folks who rely on Windows 7 for their work and they care about their PC’s security. No word on how large the updates will be but let’s hope it’ll be a smooth sailing process (unlike what Microsoft is facing with Windows Phone 7).
